MAP-03
A useful map separates observed relationships from inferred connections and explicitly exposes evidence gaps.
grounding boundary
This map presents a disciplined way to reason about a system without confusing observation with inference. It begins with observed system evidence such as configuration, code, runtime traces, and permission snapshots, then uses only that material to construct a grounded map of confirmed assets and actors, supported relationships, and confirmed trust boundaries. The review boundary is made explicit so the reader can see where evidence is sufficient, where alternative explanations should be considered, and where inference begins. Any probable but unobserved link is labeled as such, and every unresolved evidence gap is surfaced directly rather than smoothed over. The result is a map that prioritizes evidentiary clarity: it separates what is known from what is suspected, making gaps visible and keeping the analysis honest, reviewable, and ready for challenge.
