Visual walkthrough of Outlook in progress

Overview

The SecEng Trust Scanner for Outlook adds a sidebar panel to the Outlook desktop and web experience so you can scan email drafts, AI-generated replies, and vendor communications for trust-language risks before responding or forwarding. The Office Add-in architecture means the scanner runs within Microsoft's secure add-in sandbox, keeping your email content inside your Microsoft 365 environment. No external server required for local-mode scans.

Features

  1. 01.

    Draft scanning before send

Open the Trust Scanner panel while composing an email to catch AI or security claim issues before they reach recipients.

  2. 02.

    Vendor email analysis

Scan incoming vendor or partner emails for misleading security claims so you can respond with informed skepticism.

  3. 03.

    Selection-based focus

Highlight a specific paragraph to run a targeted scan on the most critical part of a long email chain.

  4. 04.

    Evidence export

Download scan results as JSON or Markdown for formal evidence packages without leaving Outlook.

Install steps

  1. Step 01

Deploy via the Microsoft 365 admin center or tenant app catalog. Microsoft AppSource packaging is a roadmap target, not current availability.

  2. Step 02

No environment variables needed — the add-in uses the local trust scanner engine.

  3. Step 03

Open any email or compose window and click the Trust Scanner button in the ribbon.

  4. Step 04

Select text or scan the full message, then export evidence as needed.
